A blog post by Josiah, the tickled Yorkie
I love my daily life on the farm. I pretty much love all times of the day (except when Miss Janet leaves). But my absolutely favorite time is mid-morning tickle time.
In the morning, Miss Janet sits at her desk working. I sit under the desk and relax to digest my breakfast and bathe a little. Then I explore the living room to see what changed overnight. (Miss Janet tends to move things around, like my toys, without permission after I go to bed.)
But throughout the morning, no matter what I’m doing, I keep a close watch to see when Miss Janet will take her mid-morning break. That break means tickle time!

When break time arrives, I get so excited. Miss Janet moves over to the couch. I run up my couch steps and leap on her. Tickle time begins.
She scratches all over my back and behind my ears. I can’t reach those places myself. It feels amazing. All that scratching helps my skin, removes any itches, and gets debris out of my hair. I feel very pampered.

When I roll onto my back, she rubs my belly and scratches along my sides. I swish back and forth on the couch blankets. It’s so refreshing.
I get so ecstatic and joyful that I start kicking. I kick my back legs and wave my front paws. I wiggle all over.

My mouth opens like an alligator (Miss Janet says). She says I hiss like an alligator too. I roll back and forth, biting at the air. I can’t help it. All that joy and energy have to go somewhere.
Sometimes I grab Miss Janet’s hand with my teeth. She says, “No bite,” so I try to stop. But it’s hard to stop. I’m so ecstatic. I grab her hand with my teeth again. I’m not biting, just grabbing with my teeth. That’s different, right?
Finally she hides her hands behind her back. I bite at the air again and wiggle all over. It’s so much fun! That’s what Yorkie joy looks like.

My tickle time sometimes ends with a round of zoomies. I love running circles around the outside of my playpen as fast as I can go.
Miss Janet makes it more fun by pretending to chase me or waving her arms in the air. (She does this without actually leaving the couch; amazing.) I pretend a monster is after me, and I run as fast as I can.

Finally Miss Janet tells me to take a break and go get some water. I lap up the water and come back to the couch. We do a cuddle before she goes back to her work desk.
After tickle time, I am revved up for my day. I line up the chew toys I want to play with. The daily farm fun has begun.

Tickle time gives me such a great start to my day. I get to hang out with my favorite human. I can work off all the energy I stored up overnight. My skin and hair get pampered. And I enjoy my mid-morning workout.
I can’t wait for tickle time tomorrow!
Yips and wiggles,
Josiah
