Helping My Human

A blog post by Josiah, the helping Yorkie

Miss Janet, my human, hasn’t been feeling good lately. She has a toothache. She wasn’t able to help me write my blog post this weekend. So I thought maybe I’d share about how I am helping her.

Did you know we Yorkies are very sensitive? We can tell when our humans aren’t feeling well. We try to be as helpful as possible.

Here’s how I’ve been helping:

I’m trying to be quieter right now. I still bark my alerts. I’m a Yorkie. That’s what we do. It’s my job. But instead of continuing to bark, I’ve been quieting down faster.

I am finding tasks to keep myself occupied. Miss Janet can’t interact as much, so I stay busy chasing rope balls, engineering my toys (I like threading my monkey plush toy through my Kong tire), and rearranging the furniture in my playpen. I also narrate my playtime with quiet growls. It keeps me busy and out of Miss Janet’s hair.

I sit quietly next to Miss Janet. We Yorkies can pick up on how our humans are feeling. We will sit right next to our human and share our peaceful vibe. And yes, we really can be calm and peaceful when we need to be. That may surprise you about Yorkies.

When Miss Janet goes out for a bit, I very calmly and patiently sit in my crate. I am on my best behavior. I show her she doesn’t need to worry about me while she is getting well.

I will be very excited when Miss Janet feels back to normal and can play with me again. But until then, I’m being a very good boy and a very helpful Yorkie.

I hope you are having a good week and feeling healthy!

Kisses and calmness,

Josiah

All this helping is making me sleepy. I need a nap.
