A blog post by Josiah, the big town Yorkie puppy
Hi, my new friends. Josiah, the fun-loving Yorkie puppy, here again. Guess what I got to do? I got to enjoy a big night on the town. I’m such a grown-up puppy. I had so much fun.
My big night on the town started when Miss Janet put me in my backpack carrier. I couldn’t imagine where she was taking me, but she said I’d like it. She said some of my aunts would be there, and they adore me. I sat patiently as the car rumbled along.
We finally stopped under some trees, but there was no dirt or grass. It looked like I was back in the big city, but it wasn’t as big. There were lots of things made out of rocks and stones. I could see pretty flowers all around me.

I could hear lots of sounds. All kinds of food smells swirled around me. I saw humans walking around, slowly—not fast, like in the big city. It seemed like they were looking at all the sights and taking in all the smells, just like I was.
I got really excited when I recognized my aunts. They all wanted to pick me up and cuddle me. Miss Janet was right. It was worth riding in the backpack for all this attention. Coming to town is a pretty cool thing for a puppy.
A lady brought food out. Even though she said I was cute, she gave the food to the humans, not to me. They didn’t share the food because human food is not good for a growing puppy. It sure smelled good. I pretended to lie down under the table and kept looking up, hoping food would fall. But they were very careful not to drop even a crumb.

Miss Janet asked for a cup of ice for me and gave me a couple ice cubes because I was thirsty. I love the way ice cubes feel when I lick them. Makes me feel happy and cool.
Some people walked up and asked if they could pet me. Miss Janet said they could, but she told them to be careful of my teeth. I’m teething right now, so I chew on fingers. I’m not supposed to, but sometimes I get excited and start chewing. But I was on my best behavior with those people because I didn’t know what they would do if I bit them.
Some big dogs walked by. They pretended not to notice me, but I know they saw me. I just looked at them calmly, so they could see I wasn’t concerned. They didn’t scare me. Besides, I have the biggest doodle brother in the world. If anyone bothers me, I will tell Beauregard, and they’ll be in trouble.

My aunts all took pictures of me and told me how adorable I am. They took turns holding me. They told me I’m such a well-behaved, big boy because I didn’t yip, I didn’t bite, and I didn’t get restless. They said they were so proud of me. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I love my aunts.
After they finished eating, we went to another building to meet some new friends. I sat on the floor with one of my aunts, and a little girl came over to play with me. Miss Janet was worried I would bite her, but I know not to bite a child. I was very gentle with her. She wasn’t quite as gentle with me! But that’s what made it fun. We played until I got really sleepy, and my aunt told Miss Janet it was time to take me home.

That was my big night on the town. I was so well-behaved that Miss Janet said I can do it again. It’s good for puppies my age to be socialized.
I can’t wait for my next adventure. It’s fun being a puppy and discovering so many new things. And I love being cuddled and adored.
Till next time, keep those tails wagging,
Josiah
