Changes, Sadness, New Joys

The hard thing about doing a pet blog is the day eventually comes when the pet is no longer with us. Clutch decided he had played in all the cool jungles, meadows, and creeks he wanted to experience here. Now, he is exploring endless vistas and wonders in heaven and meeting all kinds of amazing animals and people. Can’t even begin to imagine how beautiful and fun for him.

Clutch was a senior dog and lived an incredible life. He definitely modeled how to live life to the fullest. He was a trouper right to the end. I wish he had stayed longer. But once Clutch made up his mind about something, there was no stopping him.

Clutch was my inspiration and my best friend, beloved by all who knew him. What a privilege I got to enjoy so much time with him. The memories of his antics, favorite things to do, places to explore are heartbreaking but also a joy to remember. He was a unique character, for sure, and kept me on my toes all the time.

I miss him more than I can express, and always will. As memories surface, and as I experience firsts—first time watering the plants without him following me to make sure I did it right … first time sitting on the couch without him next to me … first time going through his favorite car wash by myself … first time visiting his puppyhood farm without him—I try to change my sadness into gratitude. Everytime I miss doing something with him, I voice my gratitude that I got to enjoy that with him in the first place. It helps.

I am very thankful for all of you who have been reading Clutch’s blog and enjoying his point of view. I hope it has brought you joy, laughs, entertainment, and insights into a Yorkie’s life. I wish this chapter hadn’t closed so soon. But I’m grateful to have these blog posts and photos to look back on.

Even as I am going through the grief of not having my precious pup with me, I now have a new canine family member. As a friend said recently, once you experience the love of a dog, you can’t go back to being without. Josiah, a baby Yorkie, three months old, has moved in to be my new companion.

I’ve already let Josiah know that blogging is part of our family life. He will continue the Inquisitive Yorkie blog with his unique Yorkie personality and adventures. He’s so young, and everything is new for him. Yesterday, he experienced rain and heard a donkey braying for the first time. He will bring his own perspective on puppyhood and Yorkie life here on the farm. I hope you will enjoy reading the blog posts to come.

Thanks and God bless,

Janet (Yorkie mom)

Grateful for every moment with my forever puppy, Clutch.
Little Josiah can’t wait to share his world with you. He will start posting here soon.
